MK-ULTRA (also spelled Mk-Ultra, MK Ultra, or Mk Ultra) was a Hardcore/Thrash band from Chicago formed in 1993. They were known for their fast music and outspokenness on political and social topics ranging from Capitalism to Christianity. Due to "legal troubles", the band was forced to drop the name "MK-ULTRA" in 1999. They finally broke up in 2000, although the band continued donating songs to compilations for some years afterwards.

Drummer Ebro Virumbrales also played in well-known hardcore bands Charles Bronson and Los Crudos at the same time as MK-ULTRA. Singer Frank Hanney went on to form Fourteen or Flight, and guitarist Jeff Jelen went on to form Punch in the Face with Ebro on vocals and VMW with Mark McCoy on vocals. Former vocalist Jeff Bachner and Jeff Jelen formed American Mosquito, which released a 7".

Their name was taken from the secret CIA Project MKULTRA.

Beastie Boys - Pollywog Stew

I'm definitely not going to pull the whole "Did you know that the Beastie Boys used to be a hardcore band?" charade.
They were alright as a hardcore group, but I don't think they would get as much attention this way if they didn't branch out into the mainstream.

For those who don't know..
Apparently -according to what I heard- they were a joke band who basically worshiped the Bad Brains, and they named themselves Beastie Boys because the initials were the same.
(Also apparently B.E.A.S.T.I.E. is some really lame acronym which was obviously not thought out enough).

Alright EP.
Nothing too great, but it needs to be out there, I guess.

Deep Wound was a Hardcore Punk band, which formed in 1982 in Westfield, MA. They released one self titled 7" and contributed 2 songs to the compilation LP, Bands That Could Be God, both of which are sought after by fans and record collectors alike. They are often noted as being, along with Siege, one of the early inspirations for Grindcore.

Bones Brigade - Blatant Rip-Off

I don't have very much information about this EP,
Nor do I have any cover picture (you'll have to settle with a dog and a skateboard).

When I first heard of Bones Brigade, the first thing I thought was that the band would be some cheap, novelty rock act by the members of the skateboarding team of the same name.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Hardcore Skate-Punk...
And as far as I know, the only thing the band has in common with the skate team is their name.

Tight Instrumentals, Good vocals, Great overall sound.

Plus, they're from Boston.
Awesome.
